A Crown of Paper

These are the file necessary to play ‘A Crown of Paper’, a board game campaign created by The Perfect Captain rules-writing team.

Their own site was shut down in 2019/20, but they have given permission for others to post the rules on their own sites, freely.

They had a charity page when you went to download, suggesting that people donate time or money to charity since ‘our stuff is free, we figure you've got some extra dough in your pocket you'll just end up blowing on something stupid (well, we would!)’.

If you download their rules from here, it might be nice if you considered doing the same.

There is still a Facebook group dedicated to the various rulesets they produced, and you can find that here.

Whilst the game can be played as a traditional strategic board game, The Perfect Captain team also developed a set of miniatures rules called ‘A Coat of Steel’. Whilst these gave fun games, I felt that they didn’t quite answer my needs and so developed my own ruleset, using some of the mechanisms from ACoS alongside others from other rulesets.

Called ‘Blood and Horse Droppings’, it produces something that fits with my own conception of what a Wars of the Roses game should look like.
